    Description

one of the ultra rare samples of a tin helmet made by local workshops during the supply
crisis in Sept. / Octl. 1914. Green painted tin "Kuerassier"-type helmet shell with markings
of the 8th Regiment of Jaeger zu Pferde in Trier. To complete and deliver the helmets fast,
    any available
components were used, so this one has an Kuerassier officers eagle and
    in infantry enlisted spike.
I found the helmet at a fleemarket in northern France mid of the 70ties. Front- and backvisor
werde misshaped and had lost some of the green colour. This was perfectly restored. Crown
of eagle was missing and was replaced. Cocardes are old perfect reproductions -
A unique item for the WW1 collector !!
