RAR ORIGINAL M27 GERMAN CONTRACT NAMED 1927 IRISH FREE STATE ARMY VICKERS HELMET

Description

offered is a rare original small size model 1927 Vickers LTD helmet made under a German contract for the Irish Free State standing army. with only about 10,000 made in all and many bulldozed as part of foundation for army barracks in the 1970's, very few have survived. shell has a few dents and surface rust, leather is flexible and all 3 liner pads come with original cushion pillows. the white paint is not camo but was applied during WW2 for reuse as air raid civil defense head protection. original M27 helmet shell color was dark, almost black green, and if you see one with that color it most likely means that the white paint has been removed and thus history has been tempered with. this one is untouched since the battle of Britain time. a very rare and desirable helmet with loads of history that will make a great addition to your helmet collection.
