Original WWI German Helmet M1916 Stalhelm Named Carved Custom RARE.
Up for sale is one of the most iconic symbols of the First World War. This 1916 Stalhelm is in very nice condition, paint is in good shape, missing the liner as 99% of them are since 105 year old leather did not last long. This helmet is rare and unique in the fact that the names of places in France were carved into the helmet. As well as what would seem a name carved into the shell of the interior. Some of the writing on the outside of the helmet is “Torey” “Chateau Thierry” “Bouresches” “Foret DeFere”. All of these places were areas of combat during the First World War. Just my opinion, but I believe that a US soldier captured this helmet and wrote down the names of the places he fought in France on his souvenir helmet and brought it back home with him.
This helmet will display nicely and will gain value over the years making it investment grade. Anyway you look at it this helmet is an amazing piece of history and very rare at that!
