Antique WWI Imperial German Prussian Pickelhaube Leather Spike Helmet Stamp 1912

Description

Straight from the estate of a well-known military antique collector which includes over 30 helmets and pickelhaubes from pre-WW1 and WW2 era that will be listed on my page in the near future

.  None of these helmets have been professionally authenticated that I'm aware of and I am NOT an expert myself.  Anything mentioned herein is simply my uneducated opinion.  That said, all helmet sales are final and returns will not be accepted.  Please take that into consideration and please ask any and all questions you may have before bidding.
This particular helmet is in pretty good shape overall with no major signs of trauma but does show obvious signs of age and minor damage.  It appears to be structurally sound and mostly straight.  The outer leather shows some crazing but is still in good shape.  The leather liner on the inside of the chin strap is mostly still intact but shows heavy aging.  The metal parts show some minor bends in a few spots including the rear post and heavy oxidization from age.  The metal chinstrap is being held together by a wire and the lock appears to be missing.  The original inner leather liner shows aging and degradation as seen in the last picture.  "5F8AR 1912" stamped under rear bill.
As previously stated, I am NOT an expert on these helmets but I have done my best to detail this item and point out any noticeable
discrepancies that may concern you as a buyer.  If I missed any important details or you want me to check something in particular, please ask before bidding.
