Antique US Army Leather Spiked Pickelhaube Helmet J.C.F. Deeoken Manufacturer NY

Straight from the estate of a well-known military antique collector which includes over 30 helmets and pickelhaubes from pre-WW1 and WW2 era that will be listed on my page in the near future

.  None of these helmets have been professionally authenticated that I'm aware of and I am NOT an expert myself.  Anything mentioned herein is simply my uneducated opinion.  That said, all helmet sales are final and returns will not be accepted.  Please take that into consideration and please ask any and all questions you may have before bidding.
This particular helmet is in good shape overall with some signs of trauma or visible damage.  It appears to be structurally sound and straight.  The outer leather is smooth and in great condition showing no signs of crazing.  The leather liner on the inside of the chin strap is in good shape and still fully intact.  The original inner leather liner shows heavy aging as seen in the last picture.  There's a small hole on top with some surrounding cracks that's mostly hidden under the unconnected rear top post of the spike.  The metal parts are in good shape showing signs of moderate oxidization.  A couple links of the chinstrap appear to have been replaced somehow.  "Excelsior" inscribed on the side metal hinges.  J.C.F. Deeoken Manufacturer New York stamped under the bill.
As previously stated, I am NOT an expert on these helmets but I have done my best to detail this item and point out any noticeable
discrepancies that may concern you as a buyer.  If I missed any important details or you want me to check something in particular, please ask before bidding.
